Sheriff Jackie Melton
Served in Law Enforcement in Meigs County since 1975, Deputy Sheriff (6 years), Decatur Police Chief (29 years), Meigs County Sheriff (2010 – present)
Graduate of Meigs County HS, attended Cleveland State Community College, graduate of the TN Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Currently serves on board of Drug Task Force, Child Protective Investigation Team and Child Abuse Response Team for 9th Judicial District; Serves in the TN Emergency Mgt. Agency Nuclear Training Program and a member of the Homeland Security Task Force.
Qualified Hazardous Materials First Responder with extensive training in meth lab investigation and enforcement, and a Certified Training Instructor with the TN Law Enforcement Academy.
Implemented first full-time SRO at Meigs County HS in 1998; Served as part-time SRO for Meigs Middle School from 1999-2010.
